About jiya.events

Jiya means heart in Hindi and Urdu. jiya.events is a directory of the people who make South Asian events happen in Virginia, built so organizers stop relying on WhatsApp forwards and vendors stop relying on word of mouth.

Who it's for

On one side: families planning a wedding across three days, associations running a Diwali mela or a garba night, a mosque planning its Eid bazaar, a temple booking dhol players, a company doing a Diwali dinner. On the other: caterers, mithai shops, decorators, DJs, photographers, mehndi artists, boutiques, jewelers, planners, dance schools, and the temples, mosques and gurdwaras that book ceremonies.

Where

Virginia. Most vendors are in Northern Virginia, along the Loudoun and Fairfax corridor from Ashburn and Sterling through Herndon, Chantilly and Fairfax down to Alexandria, with more in the Richmond area and Hampton Roads. Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepali, Sri Lankan and Afghan communities are all here.
